Sound Test is a set of audio tools that run in your browser. This page says exactly what that means for your data, and the site's source includes tests that fail if it stops being true.

What runs in your browser

The page, its stylesheet, its fonts and its scripts, all served from soundtest.net. There are no cookies, no tracking scripts and no advertising, and your browser makes no requests to any other company's servers. The fonts are hosted here rather than fetched from a font service, so loading a page tells no one else that you visited.

Every sound the tools play is generated on your device as it plays. No audio file is downloaded, and nothing you do with a tool is sent anywhere.

Your microphone

A tool that uses your microphone asks for permission only when you press its button. Audio from your microphone never leaves your device: it is never uploaded, never stored, and never sent anywhere. A recording exists only in the open tab, and it is gone the moment you leave or reload the page. You can withdraw the permission at any time from your browser's address bar.

What the host sees

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives every request your browser makes to this site — including your IP address, the address of the page you asked for, and your browser's name and version — and keeps logs of those requests.

We look at the traffic statistics Cloudflare builds from those logs: how many requests the site receives, which pages are asked for, and roughly which countries they come from. Those statistics show the IP address of a sample of individual requests. We use them only to understand how the site is used, and we do not combine them with any other information. Search engines

The site is registered with Google Search Console, so that we can see how it appears in Google's search results. That registration is made through the site's DNS records: nothing is added to the pages, and your browser does not contact Google when you visit.
